Kidnap

Sanjay Gadhvi treads the same, all style and no substance, path once again in Kidnap. Kidnap is a power tussle between a young boy and the father of the girl he kidnaps.

Basically the movie is an enthralling revenge drama between Kabir and Vikrant Raina in order to settle a old score for which he kidnap’s his daughter Sonia. To rescue his daughter from Kabir, Vikrant has to follow all the instructions and rules led by  Kabir and from here starts the less enticited game of cat-n-mouse. Things keep deteriorating as they reach the finale.

When Dr. Mallika [Vidya Malvade] asks her daughter Sonia [Minissha Lamba] what she wants for her 18th birthday, Sonia tells her she wants to meet her dad, Vikrant Raina [Sanjay Dutt]. The mother and father of this kid have separated, we’re explained at the very outset. After a spat between the mother and daughter, Sonia walks off in a huff and doesn’t return.

Mallika panics when she gets a call from a stranger that he has kidnapped Sonia. The kidnapper, Kabir [Imran Khan], has only one demand — he will negotiate with nobody but Sonia’s father, Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt), an affluent New York-based Indian businessman, with whom he has an old score to settle.

Reluctantly Mallika brings Vikrant back into their lives to save Sonia. But Vikrant chokes at the thought of taking orders from a criminal. But Kabir holds the trump card,he holds Sonia and Vikrant knows he has no option but to toe the line.

Kabir doesn’t demand ransom and Vikrant finds himself in a trapped situation where he has to follow whatever tasks Kabir asks him to carry out to find the whereabouts of his daughter. What is the task? What is Kabir’s motive? What compels Kabir to adopt this dangerous path of abduction? This forms the rest of the story.

There is hot Minnissha Lamba who is fashionably dressed in skimpy clothes that would be distracting, an item song by Sophie Chaudhry.

Imran Khan holds the film together with an increase of more than crappy script solely on the power of his performance. There is something about his performance that catches attention. Minissha’s character is firmly focused on her dresses, there are those cleavage-flaunting coats or hot pants with shimmering belly chains to bootable. The chemistry between the two is poor.

When it comes to performance, Imran surpasses the rest of the cast. Imran Khan once again strikes the right chord and delivers an excellent performance. But he sure does deserve a better second outing. Sanjay Dutt needs to work on his physique. He looks tired and disinterested in the project. Minissha Lamba can get better. She is more skin and less talent. Vidya Malvade is competent and looks hot in those figure hugging outfits.
