Pazhassi Raja is a forthcoming biopic magnum opus historical film directed by Hariharan, and the screenplay is written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair. It stars Mammotty, Manoj K. Jayan, Thilakan , Padmapriya and Sarath Kumar in the lead roles with Kanika Subramaniam,Peter Handley Evans,Harry Key,and Jagathi Sreekumar in other pivotal roles. The film’s score and soundtrack is written by acclaimed composer, Illayaraja. The budget of the movie would be around 15-20 Crores. M. T. Vasudevan Nairwho is known for reinterpreting history, making villains heroes and heroes villains will be doing the same this time also.

Mammotty who played the hero in Hariharan’s previous historical, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha plays the title role in this movie There are three heroines with Padma Priya appearing as Adivasi girl, Kanihaa as his wife and Linda Arsenio as an English woman.Linda Arseniowho has done theatre in New York, was seen in Kabul Express. Suman who played the villain in Sivaji: The Boss, signed on to play the villain, Pazhaiveetan Chandu and Sarath Kumar, who will make his debut in Malayalam cinema, will play Edachena Kunkan, the chief lieutenant to ‘Pazhassi Raja’

“The story of ‘Pazhassi Raja’ one of our first, but least known freedom fighters, appealed to me also because it offered tremendous visual possibilities in the backdrops of the forests and the wars. We know about the high expectations people have on the film and are confident that we will be able to live up to it”, says the director Hariharan

This will be the second Malayalam movie to be filmed in Panavision, the first one being Vanaprastham
