Mumbai, Friday 17 Oct 2008: Seven days after he was admitted in the Mumbai Lilavati Hospital, Bollywood’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been discharged today. The actor, who was taken to the hospital on the occasion of his 66th birthday after he complained of abdominal pain, returns home on the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chouth.

Waving to the crowd outside the hospital, Big B was driven to his house ‘Jalsa’ by son Abhisshek in his Land Cruiser.
With the superstar returning home, his bungalow is getting warmed up to mark his homecoming. And it’s not only the family members who seem to be all smiles, countless fans have come out to wish a speedy recovery to their favourite hero as they stand in waiting outside his house.
Amitabh has been advised to take 3 weeks of intense bed rest and not exert himself in any kind of physical activity. “Doctors attending to him did their final check up this morning so that they could prescribe whatever medication he has to take and allowed him to go home,” Dr Naredra Tiwari, vice president Lilavati hospital told reporters.
The actor has also spoken out on the illness for the first time, mentioning anxiety, pain and sleepless nights, in a post on his blog.
