Thiruvananthapuram, Friday 14 November 2008: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said the government will form an anti-terrorist action squad shortly. Minister said that efforts were under way since 2006 to equip the intelligence wing for internal security with modern gadgets and monitoring systems and to find competent persons to man them. The proposed squad would supplement these activities. “The government would not allow terrorist activities in the name of any religion.” Minister said. The Minister said the government was committed to rooting out extremism from the State through detailed investigations. However, action against extremists should not pave way for isolation of any community or growth of communal enmity. It was possible to fight religious extremism in Kerala by lining up the majority from the very same religions.
