Thiruvananthapuram, Thursday 06 November 2008: Wednesday recommended to the Governor the promulgation of an ordinance to amend the Kerala Land Conservancy Act to provide for stringent punishment of encroachers of government land.
The Cabinet also decided to recommend to the Governor the convening of the Assembly from November 24, marking a departure from the practice of not proposing ordinances after a decision to convene the Assembly. In view of Constitutional limitations, the Governor would have to sign the ordinance before summoning the Assembly.
