Hyderabad, Thursday 20 November 2008: The Centre would invest about Rs 800 crore for exploration of uranium deposits in the country during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar said.
Apart from importing, the commission was looking at enhancing uranium production in the country, he said
Besides broad-based strategies for wider access, there is a need for adoption of new technology, deployment of large investment and organisational restructuring for increasing uranium resources, he said.
