Thrissur, Wednesday, November 19, 2008: The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the BJP, RSS and BMS in Thrissur to protest the killing of BJP worker in Pavaratti near Thrissur has hit normal life.
Shops remained closed; except for vehicles carrying Sabarimala pilgrims and some private vehicles plying, most KSRTC and private buses have kept off the roads.
District Collector yesterday imposed curfew at Pavaratti and nearby places following the death of a RSS worker yesterday evening. Large contingents of police have been deployed here to prevent further political clashes.
RSS activist identified as Arakkal Vinod was hacked to death at Pavaratti in Thrissur yesterday evening. He was one among the accused in connection with the murder of Mujeeb Rahman, a CPM activist.
