Thodupuzha, Friday, September 05, 2008: Police arrested four youth from Idukki in connection with the kidnapping of Idukki Engineering College student Shyamaprasad who went missing from August 27th. Shyamaprasad son of well-known writer and political analyst N M Pearson was later found by police from Kattapana.
According to Shyamaprasad he was kidnapped by a three-member gang and they released him from captivity near Kumali. According to police the three youth arrested hailed from Paravur and one was a native of Kumali. Police sources say the youth were friends of Shyamaprasad and more arrests are likely to follow based on the phone calls made to Shyamaprasad’s residence demanding ransom for his release.
