New Delhi, Wednesday 12 November 2008: The Congress leadership will on Wednesday hold a high-level meeting to take a decision on possible action against senior party leader Margaret Alva for her allegations of nepotism over the ‘sale of party tickets’ in several states.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi will preside over the meeting and the matter is most likely to be discussed with the top leadership of the party.
According to the political analysts, the Congress leadership is expected to take strict disciplinary action against Alva for going public with allegations of wrongdoing during the Karnataka assembly elections earlier this year.
The row over sale of party tickets has come just days ahead of the crucial assembly election in several states and is most likely to damage the Congress party’s reputation.
Defence Minister AK Antony, who heads the party’s Disciplinary Action Committee has reportedly submitted his report on the issue to the party president Sonia Gandhi, who will take action after consultations with senior party leaders.
