Chennai, Monday, October 20, 2008: A family Court in Chennai on Monday allowed actress Urvasi and her husband, actor Manoj K Jayan to divorce after both submitted mutual consent to end the nine-year-old relation that had started with a brief period of love affair on Friday.

However, the legal battle between the two would continue for some time more as a case was pending at the family court in Ernakulam for the right of custody of their only daughter Kunjaatta who is now staying with Manoj’s parents in Kochi.

The star couple had tied the knot at the Sree Mukambika Temple at Kolloor, Karnataka in 2000. The end of the relationship came after the one-and-a-half-year court proceedings during which both failed to reach reconciliation from the side of the court and also of Urvasi’s elder sister and actress Kalaranjini.
