India’s Pankaj Advani beat Geet Sethi to win 42 nd IBF World Billiard Championship title in Bangalore on Friday, September 6.
Advani beat sethi 6-1 in the best of 9 frames final. Advani had earleir beat the defending champion Rupesh Shah i the semifinals to set up the semi final clash with geeth Sethi. Its a historic victory for Pankaj the World Snooker and Billiards Champion as he beat perhaps one of the legends of the game Geet Stehi for this landmark win.
The 23-year-old Bangalorean delighted the home crowd at Karnataka State Billiards Association Hall with a superlative display, winning 150-90, 151-0, 150-24, 150-0, 86-150, 150-72, 150-12.
Sethi said inclusion of billiards in the Asian Games inspired him to continue playing the game and expressed hope that it would figure in the Olympics as well. “I am still going strong, I still enjoy the game”, he added.
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has congratulated Pankaj Advani for capturing the World Billiards title in Bangalore today.
The President said she is extremely delighted to know that Pankaj has added yet another title in an already very successful career.
President Patil has wished him continued success.
